My lower back had bothered me for years. After three sessions I'm back to running and I'd forgotten what that felt like.

Calm, precise, no fuss. I've already sent two friends.

I came in barely able to turn my head and walked out moving freely. Two sessions and the stiffness hasn't come back.

Things people ask
before they book.
What is Bowen therapy?
A hands-on therapy developed by Tom Bowen in Australia in the 1950s. It uses small, precise moves over muscle and fascia, separated by short pauses that give the body time to respond. There is no manipulation, cracking or prolonged pressure.
Does it hurt?
No. The moves are gentle and most people find them comfortable. Some notice warmth or tingling during the pauses; some notice very little at the time and more in the days after.
Do I need to undress?
No. Bowen is done through light, loose clothing. Wear something comfortable and avoid thick or stiff fabrics.
Is it like chiropractic or physio?
It is hands-on like both, but there is no cracking, no forceful manipulation and no exercise programme to follow. Many people come to Bowen because they want something gentler.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what has brought you in. Many people notice a change within the first two or three sessions, and we review as we go rather than committing to a fixed course.
Can I have other treatments at the same time?
I ask that you leave a week either side of a Bowen session before any other hands-on therapy, so the body is responding to one thing at a time.
How long is a session, and what does it cost?
Sixty minutes. £45 at the Rugeley studio, £65 for a home visit in N and NW London. No deposit, and you can cancel up to 24 hours before at no charge.
Do you do home visits in London?
Yes, across N and NW postcodes, and I bring the table. If you are elsewhere in London, get in touch and I will quote a bespoke fee.
Is there parking at the Rugeley studio?
Yes. The studio is on Brewery Street, WS15 2DY, and there is parking available.
Do you see athletes and dancers?
Yes. Bowen is used in sport and dance for recovery and to look after movement quality, and that side of the work particularly interests me.
